Get answers to your most common questions about notary services, with a focus on how Remote Online Notarization makes document authentication faster, easier, and available on your schedule.
Remote Online Notarization
Is Remote Online Notarization secure?
Absolutely. I use state-approved, encrypted platforms with multi-layered security:
- Advanced identity verification (including knowledge-based authentication)
- Government ID credential analysis
- Secure video recording of each session
- Tamper-evident digital seals
This comprehensive approach offers more security than traditional notarization while providing a complete audit trail of the transaction.
Can all documents be notarized remotely?
Most everyday documents can be notarized remotely, including:
- Powers of Attorney
- Real estate forms
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Business documents
Notable exceptions:
- Some wills and codicils may require in-person witnesses
- I-9 Employment Verification (requires authorized representative, not notarization)
- Certain international documents where the receiving country doesn’t accept RON
Not sure about your document? Submit the Appointment Request Form with your document details for quick confirmation.
Are remotely notarized documents legally valid nationwide?
Yes, documents I notarize through RON are generally accepted throughout the United States under interstate recognition principles. While a few institutions might have specific requirements, the vast majority accept properly executed RON documents without issue.
If you’re concerned about a specific recipient, mention this when booking your appointment, and I can advise on any special considerations.
Preparing for Your Appointment
What do I need for a successful RON appointment?
For a smooth remote notarization:
- Technology: Computer/tablet/smartphone with camera, microphone, and stable internet
- Valid ID: Government-issued photo identification (not expired)
- Document: Electronic version of your document (PDF preferred)
- Environment: Quiet, well-lit space where you won’t be interrupted
- Time: 15-30 minutes of uninterrupted availability
Don’t worry about technical details—I’ll guide you through each step during your appointment.
What identification is accepted for notarization?
I accept any of these current, unexpired forms of ID:
- State-issued driver’s license or ID card
- U.S. Passport or Passport Card
- Foreign passport with U.S. Customs stamp
- U.S. Military ID Card
For RON appointments, your ID must pass the platform’s credential analysis. You’ll also complete a brief knowledge-based authentication (think security questions based on your credit history).

When are you available for notarizations?
24/7 availability by appointment, including evenings and weekends. My flexible scheduling accommodates your life—not the other way around.

For fastest response:

- Complex multiple documents: 30-45 minutes depending on quantity
Once we begin, I work efficiently while ensuring everything is properly executed.
